AG Exemption with Honeybees

Establish or Maintain Ag Evaluation with  Honeybees!

Do you have  5-20 acres in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex and surrounding areas, Austin and surrounding areas, or Houston and surrounding areas.  If you contact us about putting bees on your property, you may qualify to pay as little as ½ of 1% of what you currently pay in property taxes.

ALL the bee work is done for you. We will have hives placed and maintained on your property aiding in eligibility to establish or maintain a Texas Agricultural Evaluation on your land.

The Texas Ag Evaluation for beekeeping offers a valuable opportunity for landowners to engage in environmentally beneficial agricultural practices while enjoying reduced property taxes. The evaluation recognizes the unique and crucial role of bees in agriculture and the broader ecosystem. Landowners interested in this exemption should focus on ensuring their land is primarily used for beekeeping and should be aware of any specific acreage requirements set by their local county.

Common Questions about Texas Agricultural Evaluation

What does the bee setup look like?

Commercial hives may look quite different than expected as they are often rustic and do not look brand new like in the photo above. Typically commercial pallets hold 4 hives per pallet, so if you do not order in an increment of 4, you will have an empty space.

Will I get to keep the honey?

Bees normally need the honey to survive winter so most of it is left for them, however we do like to gift you a little bit as a thank you!

Will the bees be on my property for the entire year?

Our bees will typically remain on your property for a minimum of 7 months of the year, excluding the time they will be in use for pollination service off site. Most counties do not require immediate or constant placement of bees and can typically establish or maintain evaluation with the county by presenting your receipt and paperwork.

How many acres do I need to qualify?

Most counties in TX require a minimum of 5 acres and often max out the benefit at 20 acres. You can learn more about what your county requires here.

How many hives do I need on my property to qualify?

Most counties require a minimum of 6 hives to qualify. You can learn more about what your county requires here.

Do I own the bees?

Under this program you will not own any of the bees or equipment. If the hive fails it will be replaced at no extra cost.
