An inner cover for all seasons! Designed by Lincoln Sennett of Swan's Honey (Authorized Dealer of Mann Lake Ltd.). The Wintering Inner Cover functions as a traditional inner cover for the warmer months but can also be used during the cold months as it provides ventilation, reducing condensation. Designed with a center pull out that accommodates a jar feeder and doubles as a mold for candy boards. Compatible with our telescoping cover.
Compatible with 10 Frame equipment only.
Note: Insulation and Jar not included

Somewhat confused on what to do. Pull the yellow plug, leave the mason jar lid in the hole etc. don directions or a tip sheet would have been helpful.
Very well made and was perfect for feeding my bees the big thick sugar cake.

Very well made winter frames that work well with winter feeding. The bees are now have an upper entrance they are using extensively instead of the bottom entrance.

I used this winter candy board on one single deep hive with the 1-inch insulation board (sold elsewhere) and this colony is stronger than the three hives sitting to the side under the same winter conditions in Virginia zone 6b. A 1x2 homemade feeder rim was also added in mid winter with sugar bricks and the top was lightly secured with a 500 lb ratchet strap to prevent the wind from dislodging the top or blowing the cover off.. This is a well built inner cover with a jar feeder hole, it can be used upside down to feed fondant, well worth the price paid.

This is the first time I am using an inner cover like this. I had never thought of getting one until this past winter with the snow storms and in reading the description I liked that this is versatile enough to be used in warmer months too. I started using it in March so I can't give a review of how it fares in winter yet. However, my bees love it so far. As they already had a frame feeder I removed the center pull out for the jar feeder, and it turns out they really like using the notch on the inner cover as a back door (this is the pink hive in the picture). Often I see more bees with big baskets of pollen using this entrance than the front entrance.
