2025 Splits Class

Learn how to effectively and safely split your spring hives with an experienced beekeeper! This class covers all the basics of making splits, both inside the classroom and in an apiary. Topics covered for this fascinating class include: ordering queens for your split, how to prepare your hive to split, hive strength requirements for splitting, making the split, feeding afterwards, post-split care, queen acceptance and more.

Please bring your own gloves, suit and veil.

If you do not have protective equipment we have some to loan you for the class.

Class is from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

BEEKEEPING 101

How to keep yourself protected from your bees

You will need to protect yourself! Our full Super Suit is going to protect you from almost 100% of bee stings, and last for years. However, if you are on a budget, or don’t mind the occasional sting, you can purchase any other options!

I would make sure to bring your own paper to write notes. During the first intro class I took, they supplied the paper, but not this one. There was so much information I would have loved to write down. Excellent class, as always!

I had a wonderful experience with the splits class. The instructor was knowledgeable and willing to answer everyone's questions. She did a fabulous job inserting some humor into the mix. The hands-on portion of the class was by far the most valuable aspect.
